Our monofloral chestnut honey is produced in a traditional way in our hives. This honey is produced mainly in the interior of Galicia, especially in mountain areas. The chestnut flower provides a large amount of nectar, being very suitable for the production of honey. Depending on the weather, it can also provide small amounts of honeydew at the end of the summer, which gives different nuances to the sensory characteristics of these honeys.

Authentic flavor and tradition from Galicia

At Casa Grande de Covas, honey is one of the signature products of our estate in the Ribeira Sacra. We operate our own beekeeping production, managing the entire process—from harvesting to packaging—using traditional methods that respect both nature and local heritage.

Our honey is certified under the Mel de Galicia, ensuring quality, authenticity, and compliance with the highest production standards.

🍯 Chestnut honey – the essence of Ribeira Sacra

Our monofloral chestnut honey is produced in our own hives, located in the mountainous areas of inland Lugo. Chestnut blossoms, abundant in Ribeira Sacra, provide a rich and aromatic nectar that results in a bold and distinctive honey.

Depending on seasonal conditions, small amounts of honeydew may develop at the end of summer, adding complexity and unique nuances to its flavor profile.
